The Company
Hidden Cities was formed in June 2008 by Roma Backhouse and Maddy Jones, who met when working on the Bloomsbury Festival in 2006.

Roma Backhouse, Director

Roma Backhouse is a strategic director and cultural programmer, with extensive experience working with artists and partners across genres. She is involved in large scale events and festivals which bring together and celebrate the organisations and people who are based in an area, developing profile and connections through imaginative cultural programming.
Roma has worked with, amongst others, Central St. Martins, Faber and Faber, GMTV, Great Ormond Street Hospital, ITV Local, The National Theatre, Northern Broadsides, The Place, The Slade, The Young Vic, SameSky, London International Festival of Theatre, Scarabeus, The Stephen Joseph Theatre and Steven Berkoff. She has degrees from Oxford and York Universities, and is a Visiting Lecturer at Central School of Speech and Drama.
Maddy Jones, Producer

Maddy is a producer and project manager, whose background is in site specific theatre, street theatre and arts and cultural festivals. She has worked extensively in site specific locations across London, ranging from public parks and gardens and derelict buildings, to unconventional indoor performance spaces and public highways.
With a degree from the Central School of Speech and Drama, Maddy has worked with, amongst others, The World Famous, The Bureau Of Silly ideas, Tessellate Theatre, Punchdrunk, MamaPut Productions, Avanti Display, Jean Abreu Dance, DreamThinkSpeak, Camden Council, Kings Cross Eurostar Arrivals, Greenwich & Docklands Festivals, ITV Local and The ICA and on events such as; The Stoke Mandeville Paralympic Handover, Vaisakhi, Waterborn, Act for Darfur, The Camden Mela and The London Olympic Torch Relay.
Rachel Fisher, Projects Assistant

Rachel joined Hidden Cities in July 2011 and works across all company projects, predominantly responsible for marketing, communications and assisting with project delivery. With a degree from Manchester University, Rachel has worked professionally with numerous organisations, specialising in event delivery, communication and media campaigns and youth engagement programmes.
Laura Halliwell, Project Manager

Laura is a Project Manager and Artist who works freelance with various companies across the arts and culture sector, with a particular interest in street theatre and puppetry.
Please note, Laura is currently away on maternity leave.
