Seasider
01/08/10
Seasider is a 5 year communications and regeneration strategy which will transform perspectives of the British Seaside, and encourage a new generation of creative and entrepreneurial urban people to visit and invest in seaside towns. The project is a collaboration between Eddie Bridgeman, Director of Meanwhile Space and founder of BURA’s Seaside Network, and Hidden Cities. The team has also been advised by Nick Taylor, former seaside hotelier and currently Scarborough’s Renaissance Project Leader.
Seasider has been in development since March 2009 and has grown through consultation with a wide range of tourism, regeneration and cultural specialists from around the UK to respond directly to contemporary requirements of British Seaside
towns.
Seasider has four main delivery outcomes:
1. A year-round PR Campaign, keeping the British Seaside in the cultural and travel press throughout the year.
2. A design-led peer-to-peer interactive Website, which will act as a communication portal for targeted information about the offer in seaside towns, as well as the discussion of exciting, innovative happenings
3. An annual British Seaside Festival in London to celebrate and showcase the UK’s seaside towns, produced in collaboration with high-profile London cultural organisations
4. A Seasider Network for those involved in the delivery of change in Seaside towns to identify, design and communicate solutions to shared challenges
