June 2010

Apart from the disappointing world cup results (yes, we admit, we were amongst the skiving business people watching the third group match at the local pub) June has been a month of celebration, as it was Hidden Cities' birthday! And the team enjoyed a nice lunch to mark the occasion at a local thai restaurant - yummy. The Cultural Bloomsbury Breakfast this month was hosted by Goodenough College, where it was great to meet the new Mayor and Mayoress of Camden, and enjoy a fabulous breakfast of fresh smoothies and pastries...

But we haven't spent the whole month watching football, sipping smoothies and eating noodles, promise. June has been an incredibly busy month for many of our projects...

The Bloomsbury Festival is building momentum, and fast - the programme is looking increasingly exciting, with new theatre and dance projects in the pipeline, outdoor public art being commissioned, and (it's all a bit hush hush at the moment) there are rumours that a famous face or two will be making an appearance - my lips are sealed! All will be revealed at the end of July.

We're just about ready to launch the new Festival website too - Mobius have been working hard developing the marketing and branding for the Festival - and it's looking cracking if we may say so ourselves! We'll put a note on the front page of the Hidden Cities website when the Bloomsbury Festival website has been launched - so do keep visiting back.

Seasider is delighted to announce that this summer, we will be opening a pop up shop, right in the heart of London. The shop will host different Seaside Towns from around the UK with special events, art installations and other fantastic activities - click on the link below to see the latest press release.

Our very own Roma also appeared on Radio 4's, You and Yours, this month talking about Seasider as part of a wider discussion about the re-brand of the British Seaside. Check out the link on our homepage to listen to the full programme.

Last, but certainly not least, on June 26th, Brunswick Square came alive with a whole host of wonderful family activities as part of Fayre on the Square, a fundraising event for The National Hospital Development Foundation. Hidden Cities were providing Production Management services for the event, ensuring that everything ran smoothly and safely. The day was a huge success, with the sun shining and lots of happy visitors all taking full advantage of the brilliant entertainment in aid of this great cause.

The Hidden Cities team have also been enjoying what London has to offer across the city this month, including giant knitting in Canary Wharf as part of the London Festival of Architecture, watching high energy street dance at the Paradise Gardens Festival in Victoria Park, and enjoying Okinawa Day at Spitalfields Market.

As always, for more info about our projects, please get in touch.
