April 2010

April has been a month full of new things; projects, partnerships and peanuts.
(well, not really peanuts but I couldn't think of another 'p'.)

Hidden Cities is delighted to be working with the National Hospital Development Foundation to provide production management services for Fayre on the Square, which will be happening on Saturday 26th June 2010 in Brunswick Square, Bloomsbury. With games, stalls, performances and all sorts of other activities for the family, we hope to see you there!

In addition, Hidden Cities have been enjoying taking regular trips to the beautiful Margate seaside, after being commissioned by the Turner Contemporary and the Margate Renewal Partnership to develop a feasibility study for a 'non-conference-conference' which will bring a national audience together to debate contemporary seaside issues in a truly dynamic and pioneering format.

On the seaside note, Seasider has also brought us into contact with an increasingly fantastic range of organisations and individuals, including this month, English Heritage, Yorkshire Forward, Lancashire & Blackpool Tourist Board, and Discovering Places. We're pleased to be engaged in conversations with these organisations and look forward to post-election when we can really begin to put our foot down on the pedal again for this great project.

The Bloomsbury Festival seems to be getting very close, very quickly! We're looking forward to working with Dr. Theano Moussouri and UCL on the Festival evaluation, and have been continuing to develop programming, alongside the fundraising campaign.

April also played host to Create KX's Reveal Festival, a fantastic local celebration of the hidden gems in the Kings Cross area. Huge congratulations to everyone who was involved!

The Hidden Cities team enjoyed going along to the opening of the cafe at Lumen early in the month. This stunning contemporary church in Bloomsbury is well worth a visit - the cafe is great too - we even held our last Bloomsbury Festival Steering Committee meeting there.

Further afield, the team have been enjoying soaking up other great activities, such as the fab Exeter Food Festival, and a break in Yorkshire for Roma who just loved being back in that beautiful part of the world...
