BLOOMSBURY FESTIVAL

Allied London properties bought The Brunswick – a mixed use development that had fallen into disrepair.

Their plans for a high street shopping centre were at odds with the bohemian history of the area and the demographic of the local population. They wanted to develop an event which placed The Brunswick at the heart of the area and local community, and established a character for the area which would help transform their new development into a destination.

We worked with organisations in the area to generate an event that involved and benefited as many local partners as possible. With students from Central St. Martins, we developed a map which placed The Brunswick at the heart of a vibrant creative area, home to over eighty creative or cultural organisations, from grass-roots community organisations to those of national and international status.

The Bloomsbury Festival quickly established itself within the area, and in 2007 attracted over 60,000 visitors to over 150 events.

ITV Local worked with us during their launch year to showcase the event.
